Friday and Carroll Shelby

Our day started out with a large Dunkin Donuts coffee for me and we registered for the casino's reward program while we waited for our brunch date with Don and Cheryl from CA.  Then we parted ways so that they could check out other area hotels for tomorrow night's stay and we could fill our pony with fuel.  We were blessed to find a Costco with fuel!  YES!

We met  back at the hotel to head out to the Shelby manufacturing facility for a tour and to their on-site cafe for dinner.  The tour was terrific!  We got to see the very first Cobra that was built in February of 1962.  Mr. Shelby reportedly has turned down an offer for 20 million for the car.  We got to sign the wall of the manufacturing plan, something Mr. Carroll likes since everyone always wants his autograph.

Dinner was simple, hearty fare: hamburger, pulled pork, baked beans, macaroni salad, beer and/or soda.  Kenny Youngblood a CARtoonist was coloring and personalizing various pictures for tips only.  Note to GHMC friends, I have a surprise for you!

We ended the evening doing a small amout of gambling.  Jeff is still winning our fortune as I type.
I found out I am much better at 25 cent slots than Roulette.

The last picture on this blog is the pre-production 2010 Shelby GT500, that will be the pace car for our drive across america.  Our car is all outfitted with her car number placard, our MAA oval sticker, and we were able to purchase a Mustang Across America decal for our back window.  We are super cool!
